The writer states "Politicians, special interests and central planners should not come between patients and their doctors." This is intended to describe what will happen if health-care reform is passed. But in reality it is a very accurate description of our present private insurance system. Who pray tell are these "special interests"? They wouldn't be the HMOs, large health-insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies would they? The writer states "I am a senior citizen and, up to now, have had great care under Medicare." Even though Medicare is a federal health-care system run by those mindless bureaucrats in Washington? I have been covered by Medicare for 17 years. Not once has a bureaucrat come between me and my doctor. I can't say the same for the time I was in an HMO.
